The Light of Life (Application)

Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you”. Isaiah 60:1.

Light stood for the glory of God. Prophecies also spoke of the Messiah as light: This application of “light compared with darkness” appeared in 1 John 1:5 which directly applies it to God and states thus: “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”.

Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 3:19. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5. The prophet Simeon hailed the child Jesus as “a light for revelation to the Gentiles” (making we mere human into the light of life for others)

Jesus also used that term to refer to his disciples in Matthew 5:14: You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father (GOD) in heaven.

Therefore, practically, as it is written “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work”. John 9:4 and let us always remember that God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
