“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” (1 John. 4:18).
This “Fear of God” is the reason why we Christians are to strive to find and fulfill our callings, loving God and neighbours perfectly, mindfully afraid of falling short of the divine purpose of God in our lives instead of being afraid of the D’evil, the threats he creates or uses and circumstances of this World in total.
Actually, we are to practice being “anxiously engaged in a good cause, as we forgo being wicked and evil,” and in process our anxiety may be related to freedom and responsibility in this generation and for generations to come.
This is why we are constantly charged to magnify our callings and not to be weary in well-doing, with condition of “persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned”, “[our] confidence [shall] wax strong in the presence of God”. This makes the promise of John in our quote for today so convincing and applicable: Now, since the love of God make the fear of God so fascinating and fear of God makes the love of God so sustainable, I bid you too good-luck as you casts out fear with love unfeigned~
