“I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3:8
Sincere love for Jesus proved to be “more than doing” yet “worth dying for”. John 14:15 says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” It is not easy, but worths it. Now, we need to know that so many of us will say I am right with that statement- am I?
Remember the condition, possible only for those who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit; though not of compulsion, but as of neccesity, that ‘If’ (you love me) = you will keep my commandments (blissful eternal reward). I wouldnt like you to work your own in reverse i.e.’If’ (you do not love me) = you will not keep my commandments (deadly eternal consequence). Romans 8: 1-39.
To be sincere with you, Love is one of God attribute as it can also be part of us as a true form of obedience to God. It is not just feeling any particular thing for Jesus. It is sincerely and absolutely doing what He said.
Loving Jesus is deep and foundational and transformative, because we must treasure him above all things. And then, we can risk every other things, because of that love, that treasuring of him, we shall do what he commands sincerely!
