“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30.
Have you ever thought that there is something like “Christian To Do List”? Confidently, Most of us would say Yes, but it is just not that simple with our complex humanly nature and activities. Yet, with the help of Holy Spirit, we know that living Christ-like (Convincing Christian life) is not impossible. But we must be mindful that it is a “life” (must live) and not a series of “accomplishments” (must earn) which could lead someone to entertain possitive pride or otherwise negative pride.
The ‘good’ that God requires is the doing of His will willingly with no string attached.” To attain that lofty (yet necessary) goal, man must act toward God and man according to the divine standard of righteousness revealed in God’s will; he must show every man a compassionate warm-heartedness; and walk humbly in recognition of the absolute holiness and righteousness of God by submitting to God through obedience to His desire and will.
But how are we to do this? In application, We must first acknowledge our own sins, forsake all sins, seek and ask for Holy Spirit sustainable support, then we will be willing to submit to God’s mercy better than ever everyday. On a final note: It is only through a humbling of ourselves that we will be allowed to walk with God. 1 Peter 5:5 says “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Paul, in Romans 11:20; 12:3, also points out that it is high-mindedness that leads to unbelief and lack of faith in the power of God. Above all, though we must work it out to supress sin in our body mindfully, yet we must be sincere with us that the humble attitude required by the Lord will make itself manifest with absolute influence of Holy Spirit in a life of prayer, contrition, and service. Live it! Dont just try to earn it! Shalom!
