Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22 NRSV)
After Jesus raised Lazarus from death, Jesus said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here.” God hears us too, so it is important that we offer our thanks to God. Likewise, In Psalms 30: 12, the writer says, “O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.”
We have much thanks to give for those who have helped us to be people of faith. I’m sure you can think of the special people in your own life who have helped you be the Christian you are today other than the Spiritual. I can think of Secondary School Scripture Union (SU), Univeristy GSF, and now more to learn from and much more to reach. I was sharpened by people like Daodu Dele (to mention but the second youngest of the minister that ever chastised/corrected me in love). I cannot forget Pastor Owoseni and Adejumo (GOFAMINT), Bro. Okon (SU lead, of blessed memory), Pastor Olayemi Olanegan (Present GSF Akure zonal), Family and Friends that I have met on this Christian Journey.
A Christian or a country that forgets their history doesn’t deserve much of a future. A lot of people have made sacrifices so that we could be people of faith and live in this freedom, peaceful and green land full of opportunities- if true love of God comes to play for real. I’m talking about men and women of who have faithfully served our country. I’m talking about parents, grandparents, teachers, Sunday School teachers, pastors, Christian friends, and Christian role models. They have given us something to be thankful for. My prayer now is: “Dear God, thank you for those who have helped me to be a person of faith in Jesus’ name,” Amen!
