“And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of GOD is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15
Repentance from dead works and confidence toward GOD are recorded in the Expression of GOD in HIS Word as part of the establishment that at last prompts flawlessness and interminable life. Jesus CHRIST set a significant example in HIS preaching when HE regularly called on hearers to “repent, and believe”. The missionary Paul likewise preached “repentance toward GOD and faith toward Jesus CHRIST” (Acts 20:21).
Jesus CHRIST called attention to the significance of repentance (atonement) when HE twice expressed that “unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3, Luke 13:5). GOD requires that everyone repent (Acts 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9). Yes! In the first recorded sermon in the New Testament Church, Peter told the people to “repent” (Acts 2:38).
We are to repent of sin, which is the transgression of GOD’s law (1 John 3:4). Repentance goes beyond being sorry or showing remorse for one’s past actions (2 Corinthians 7:8-11). Genuine repentance includes acknowledgment of our nature and its resistance to GOD (Romans 8:7). It requires a change, a total and careful turnaround in one’s life, a change from erring to quitting sin (from resisting GOD’s law) to obeying it.
We all are to quit going the way of the world and turn to GOD’s way instead. (Isaiah 55:7-8; Acts 26:20; Romans 12:2). Remember, Repentance is full surrender and willing obedience i.e. full compliance, in light of the information of how GOD wants us to live (righteously). Repent Now! Peace be unto You!
